You just reminded me that I was going to look into Oe's new novel. I spoke a bit on Oe, as well as Murakami Haruki at a recent translation panel in SF (it was kind of non-poetry crowd unfortunately). I've been doing all of the cooking lately, and at one point became a bit bothered by this, but I realized today at the store how much I enjoy shopping for food and cooking (buying good wines to accompany the food really helps). We now have my oldest son, Chris, living here with us too, which changes the dynamic. Anyway, still thinking about the choices. I too like to structure my day so that I have regular time to think and read while at the same time getting plenty of work done. That's why I prefer freelancing.
