19 September From 1948 to 2008

記憶と経験に膨れ上がって、今日、60歳をむかえました。

今回のイメージはブログをはじめて100点目。昨年夫とNew York に出かけた時の一辺です。

ある美術館の準備中の片隅をおおったキャンバス地。あいまいな影が形をうかべて、中央の細い亀裂からのぞく何かが感じられるようで、今の自身にとても近いものを感じます。

しかし、映像は、シャッターをきった瞬間から過去になり、車窓を後ろへ後ろへと飛びすぎる景色のように、過ぎた時へと飛ばされてしまいます。

まして年を重ねるごとに後退する記憶の不確かさ。

ひとりひとりの足跡はどこへ飛んで行ってしまうのでしょうか。

写真をとる行為がその答えになるとは思いませんが、記憶より正確に一瞬の一辺を留めてくれることは確かなようです。

 
Filled with memory and experience, today I turn sixty.

Today is the 100th photo I have posted to this blog, it was taken in last year on a trip to New York with my husband.

One of the art galleries was preparing a new exhibition and had blocked off a corner with canvas. Vague shadows created forms that moved on the surface and sometihng seemed to be peering out from the thin crack down the middle, something that seemed close to who I am now.

Of course, as soon as the shutter closes the image is in the past, and the past flows away like the scenery behind a moving car.

And as the years pile up the memories they cover become less certain.

Each of us leave our footsteps behind us, but where do they go?

Taking photographs may not help to answer this, but the photos are more accurate than memories, at least for that place in that instant.
